Material Guidelines

Print-Ready Files

The success of a print job depends on the quality and accuracy of the submitted material. Below are general guidelines for preparing print-ready files.

  • File format: The recommended format is a press-ready PDF that includes all necessary elements.
  • Fonts and images: Embed all fonts in the PDF or convert them to outlines. Images should be at least 300 dpi for print products and 150 dpi for large-format prints.
  • Color profile: Always use CMYK colors. RGB colors may appear distorted in print.

Bleed and Margins

To ensure that elements and text are not cut off, it is essential to include bleed and margin areas in your design.

  • Set a bleed area of at least 3 mm on all sides to allow backgrounds and images to extend to the edge.
  • Avoid placing critical elements closer than 5 mm from the final trim edge to prevent them from being cut off.

Color Management

Using the correct color profiles and settings ensures that your final product meets expectations.

  • Use the CMYK color profile, preferably Coated Fogra 39, for accurate color reproduction.
  • If your product requires special effects or spot colors, consult us before preparing your file.

Size & Resolution

The correct file size and resolution ensure sharp and high-quality printing.

  • The document size should match the final product size. Large prints like roll-ups require an additional 150 mm margin at the bottom for installation.
  • Images should be at least 300 dpi (150 dpi for large prints) and saved in EPS or TIFF format. Avoid JPEG due to compression artifacts.

Fonts & Vectors

Proper font and graphic handling ensure that text and logos appear correctly in the final print.

  • Embed all fonts in the PDF or convert them to vector format. Avoid TrueType fonts and use OpenType instead.
  • Logos and sharp graphics should be in vector format (EPS or AI) to maintain quality at any size.

Creating a PDF

When your file is ready, make sure your PDF is set up correctly:

  • Use "Press Quality" settings when exporting your PDF.
  • Enable bleed (at least 3 mm).
  • Ensure pages are provided as single pages in the correct order; do not use "spreads" mode.

Roll-Ups

  • Standard roll-up size is usually 850 mm x 2000 mm, but dimensions may vary. Always confirm the exact size before preparing your file.
  • Leave approximately 150 mm of additional space at the bottom to ensure the design is not hidden inside the roll-up mechanism.
  • For large-format prints, a resolution of at least 150 dpi is recommended, though 300 dpi is ideal for text-heavy designs.

Books & Booklets

Multi-page print files require special attention, especially for bound or stapled products.

  • Submit pages as individual pages, not as spreads. For example, in a four-page fold, the first page is the front cover and the last page is the back cover.
  • Avoid placing important elements too close to the spine. In thicker books, elements near the binding may distort or become difficult to read.

Beach Flags (Promotional Flags)

  • Beach flag dimensions and shapes vary by model. Common shapes include "drop," "feather," and "rectangular," so verify the correct size before creating your design.
  • Add a 3 mm bleed on all edges and keep important text and elements at least 10 mm away from the edges.
  • Use CMYK colors and avoid excessive color gradients, as they may appear differently on fabric.

Cards & Invitations

  • The final dimensions of the card must be determined before file preparation. Common sizes include A6 (105 mm x 148 mm) and square formats.
  • If the card has a fold, ensure the design is laid out on individual pages rather than across the fold. Allow for fold margins to prevent text or design elements from being misaligned.
  • Include bleed (3 mm) and margin (5 mm).
